Effectivenessof Dialectical Behaviour Therapy on Self-Efficacy and Interpersonal Problems of Women with Dependent Personality Disorder

چکیده [English]

Personality disorders are a consistent behavioural and inner experience pattern that is considerably at odds with cultural expectations. It is pervasive, inflexible, stable over time (it may develop into confusion and disorder), and begins during adolescence or adulthood. One of the many types of personality problems is the dependent personality disorder. It is a natural need for human beings to communicate with and ask for help from others but people with dependent personality disorder tend to show too much need for these bounds which can surely be troublesome. This article aims to study the effectiveness of dialectical behavioural therapy on self-efficacy of females with dependent personality disorder. For this purpose, 30 women diagnosed with dependent personality disorder through MCMI test were chosen out of the women who visited consultation centers in Tehran. These subjects randomly selected were assigned into control and experiment groups. The experiment group went through 10 sessions of dialectical behavioural therapy while the control group were put in the waiting list. Before and immediately after the interventions all groups went through Sherer general efficacy test. Results show that by stabilizing the pre-test effects there is a significant difference between the control and test group (P<0. 01). As a result, the effectiveness of dialectical behavioural therapy for improving the self-efficacy of women with dependent personality disorder is confirmed.
