The Determination of Early Maladaptive Schemas in Women with Addictive Relationships

Abstract

The purpose of this research was comparing common individuals with early maladaptive schemas in females who were affected by addictive, romantic and sexual relationships. The method of the research was causal-comparative and statistical community included all females, that referred to psychological health clinics in Shiraz and Kerman, Iran (from March 2012 to February 2013). In order to collect data, Young maladaptive schemas questionnaire- short form (YSQ-SF) and the questionnaire of addictive relationships were used. To analyze the data, statistical indices and methods including, Mean, Standard Deviation and Independent T-test were used. The results suggested that in early maladaptive schemas, related to disconnection and rejection domain in YSQ-SF, and a statistically significant difference in levels of p<0.05 was found between women who were affected and not affected by addictive relationships. In other words, women affected by addictive relationships had a higher unhealthy core beliefs and maladaptive basis comparing to women not affected by addictive relationships, which ,subsequently, influenced the deficiency way of communicating with others; and one of these ways, effected addiction, chronic and sickly dependency in relationships with others.
