The Study of Effective Factors on Women's Motivation for Participation in NGO's

Abstract

This study investigated women's motivation to participate in NGO'sin Golestan Province, Iran.  The most important purpose of this paper was identifying the effective social factors on women's motivation for participating in NGO's. Social factors included family integrations, socio-economic status, media consumption, demographic features, life satisfaction, political awareness, and family members' participation role. In terms of research methodology, the dominant approach in this study was survey and field method was used in data gathering. The population of this research was women who were active in NGO's. The sample of this study was 389 women determined by Cochran's formula, later increased to 400 women. The method of sampling was stratified random sampling proportional to the size of towns of Golestan Province which were the classes of sampling. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire used for data gathering were achieved by test-re-test and CVR method, respectively. The analyses based on the level of variables measuring were done in descriptive and inferential ways. The results ranked the factors as: women's participation motivation in NGO's was 1; Life Satisfaction was 2; Family members' participation role in NGO's 3; Demographic features of women 4; Media consumption 5; Political awareness of women 6; Economic status 7; and, the last, Family integration, 8.
