Investigating the Role of Six Sigma Strategy in Improving Quality of Services in Islamic Azad University Libraries from the Viewpoints of Female Librarians

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the role of Six Sigma strategy in improving quality of services in Islamic Azad University Libraries from the Viewpoints of female librarians. Methodology of research was a descriptive survey. The study population consisted of all Librarians working in Libraries of Islamic Azad University branch-1 in 2014-2015. Questionnaire of Pand and Holp (2004) Six Sigma principles were used for data collection. The professors of Management and Information Sciences and knowledge verified the face validity of questionnaire and their suggestions were applied and the reliability of the questionnaire was also estimated 83% by using Cronbach’s Alpha. For testing research questions and hypotheses, one-way ANOVA and t-tests were used. The result indicated that librarians with higher education with field of library and information science have more attention to the components including focus on customer, management based on information and facts and action management in improving quality of services. In addition, result showed all variables of Six Sigma is significantly higher than desirable from the viewpoints of female librarians.
